As part of a new program by the Japanese government, Japan will hold a Japan Pavilion called ‘Connect to Japan Design’ at the Ambiente International Trade Fair for Household Products and Accessories. On Friday, February 12th, from 3:00-4:00 p.m., we will hold a press tour at the Japan Pavilion to introduce the exhibit. Twelve popular manufacturers of Japanese household products and accessories as well as eight groups of top Japanese designers will exhibit their wares at the Japan Pavilion. The designers include winners of the iF design award and the red dot design award, and up-and-coming young designers. In addition to outlining this project and introducing the exhibitors, Kazuya Shimokawa, chief editor of Japan’s monthly magazine on design strategy and information, NIKKEI DESIGN, and the producer of this project will comment on the features of Japanese design and of the Japan Pavilion. We will also provide interpretation (in German, English and Japanese) and handouts and photographic materials on exhibitors to enable smooth coverage of the designers and manufacturers by all visiting journalists.
